    Sorry guys,

But the Netherlands is not as social minded as everyone likes to believe, we still have discrimination to deal with. And we all get pritty mad if some one says something that is not considered animalminded… Like keeping mice to feed to snakes. (And that wheil a snake is an animal too, but I will leave that subject allone…)

What I am trying to say here is… The country that is perfect in every way still has to be found. Face it, the netherlands isn't that great, but neither is America. And for all that like to know, I am Dutch, and sometimes I am ashamed to be Dutch.

So let's try to converse her like civilised people and don't start telling people off because they have put their feet in places you don't want them to put their feet, okay?

So for Monique, je spreekt toch een aardig woordje nederlands, en dat is al heel wat! ;-)

For Martine, your English may be rusty but it is very understandeble! ;-)

And for all the others… Leven en laten leven oké?

    Greetings, Groetjes,

    Gandr & beestjes

    Monique,

Have you ever spent time on American boards??

I visit a couple on a daily base. Mind you, the namecalling and F-words I've read on those boards. Geeeeeeezz.

I have a Standard Schnauzer and one of the boards I visit (in an attempt to learn some more about Schnauzers, which is very hard bc of all the bickering) is http://www.franksworld.com/wwwboard/wwwboard.html . There is hardly a thread that is ‘safe’ , I sure won't let my kids read what's said there.

And why is it that many Americans, would like to live here. I've met a vet on one of the boards and we've actualy met in ‘the flesh’ as well, when he visited our lovely Holland (his own words). He was lyric, when he told the others about his visit!!!!!!!

I agree with you that “we” are (in many cases) too tolerant. But in any country, one can find bad and good things, best to go live in the one that fits best to you.

    Hoi tinus

I choose to live here because it like it. I do not have the time to spend hours chatting with people I do not know on-line. Please do not take offense to that, It is only a statement. My written Dutch is awful, I do not need it while I live here. I have live here for quite some time, my letter earliar was directed at one person, I believe her name was Martine. What I said to her was maybe was a bit harsh, but what she said to me was a bit invasive. I have cancer, and I am in pain 24 hrs. a day. I must probably spend the rest of my life here, I don't mind it, I love Holland. I have a couple of close friends here and they understand why I probably feel a little resentment towards Dutch Government, not it's culture. If I offended you I did not mean to, I am a very spiritual person, but not perfect. Please accept my apology, and please do not send me hateful messages. It is not good for my health and yours. Do you know that the people you hate or dislike do not know or care most of the time?

    Sincerely,

    Monique

    Dear Martine,

No, I was not angry, only irritated. With my health, I cannot afford anger. Residuals of resementment. That is what you got this morning. Don't worry, my boyfriend(who happens to be dutch) got most of it! Like every morning. I have cancer and I spend a lot of time in pain. It affects my moods and there is nothing I can do about it. I can apologize for my nasty e-mail. But you still had no right to make some of the statements you made to me this morning. I don't spend a lot of time on-line line discussing things on line with people, maybe I missed the course “How To Give My Opinion To Total Strangers On-Line” in college or something. Excuse me for my ignorance. I now have people e-mailing me constantly for something you could of avoided by just avoid my english advert, or message. I don't know what to say other than I apologize, ask that you please accept it. I have the right to use this board just as much as you. I live in your country, but I do not want you to change. that's why I like living here. If you don't like speaking english, don't. No, I don't have time for dutch lessons anymore because I am dying. So please let it rest. Life in general is short, but shorter for others. I hpoe that you have enough respect in yourself to let things pass.

    Dear Lisbeth,

I am very tired and I have said what I needed to say to Conni and Martine. Please read my response from them and take it to heart.

    Thank you,

    Monique

    Monique,

now I'm sure you're American, only Americans call me Lisbeth (without the e). ROTFLMOA.

I'm not angry with you, never been, just don't like namecalling and swearing on a public board.

Personally, I find one has every right to write in English on a Dutch board, we do seem to live in a multi-cultural country (LOL), but I think it would have been best to explain why you chose to write in a foreign language, in your first mail.

I hope you didn't take the last sentence in my previous mail too personal, it was ment to be a general statement.

I've to react on one of the things you said:

“I have a couple of close friends here and they understand why I probably feel a little resentment towards Dutch Government, not it's culture. ”

A lot of Dutch feel the same, including myself, but isn't that the case in the US as well??

I'm very sorry to hear you have cancer. I do hope that you and your boyfriend will be able to make the best of the time that rests.

    Liesbeth

PS I don't spent my time chatting that much. Writing in English costs me way too much time.
